Call for Papers: “Art History Student Symposium: A Celebration of Scholarship”
The Art History Association at San José State University invites undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Art and Art History to submit proposals for presentations for consideration for the Twenty-Second Annual Art History Symposium. The Art History Student Symposium: A Celebration of Scholarship provides emerging art historians at San José State University with a valuable forum for professional development and for presenting their research to peers and distinguished scholars in the field of art history. We welcome student submissions of completed research papers drawn from all cultural and historical periods within the discipline. Undergraduate students should submit a senior capstone-level paper and will be allotted a 10-minute presentation. Graduate students with more developed topics should submit a conference-level paper and will be allotted a 20-minute presentation. Graduate students are also invited to submit proposals for ten-minute presentations on their research and works in progress. Each presentation will be followed by a short discussion between the speaker and peers, faculty and visiting scholars intended to advance the study and practice of art history and visual culture. Submissions must include author name, title of proposed presentation, a five-page work-in-progress summary or ten-page paper with an associated 250-word abstract, a one-page Curriculum vitae indicating contact information and degree status, and a letter of recommendation from your faculty advisor or mentor (letters can be sent directly to AHA Committee). All candidates will be contacted by March 10, 2017.
