Artist's Statement

When attempting to create artwork, I believe that sometimes it is best to take an introspective look at ourselves. The conversations we have within our minds and memories through the process of creating lead to a cathartic sense of understanding and expression We are not always afforded to in everyday life. Sometimes we don't want to talk about our feelings - we just want to feel.

I've attempted to incorporate this desire to feel into my own practice through a mostly abstract expressionist lens. For me, this method of expression releases itself through a bold use of colors along with the utilization of the human figure. Engaging in a personal dialogue about fond memories, old grievances, and future aspirations allows me to process and understand myself through the physical act of creation. Ultimately, this show is a representation of and stride towards personal growth, both artistically and emotionally.
