Artist's Statement

Identity, gender and location are closely examined in this body of work which was created in Salinas, California, between 2018-Current. These medium format, 120mm film photographs tell the story of the people of this small farm town located in central California. This body of work is an attempt to reach out and communicate with other people in this community and to document them in a way that would give me and the viewers a deeper look and understanding into their lives. Salinas is a blue collar working class town, one of many here in America. A Large portion of the work force come from Mexico, many of whom work relentlessly to be able to send money to their families back home. I hope to make images that honor this town and it's people while also revealing its true nature.
