Artist's Statement

Over the past two years, as everyone has been going through dramatic and drastic changes, they have often been left feeling adrift, alone, and abandoned. Without the ability to do a majority of their normal patterns and activities, people have lost touch with themselves. Leaving them directionless and isolated. While some were able to discover new interests, careers, aspects of themselves during the lockdown portions of the pandemic, a lot of us are still feeling left behind. Desperate for some of the drive and passion other people seem to have in truckloads. I was already one of those people before the pandemic hit, with my symptoms only worsening as quarantine dragged on.
A form of guidance that I have considered turning to before, but never in any serious capacity, is tarot cards. I've always been fascinated by the designs and symbolism of the cards, and the influence they can have on people who truly believe in them. But I've never been so lost, stuck, and desperate for some scrap of purpose, personality or direction in my life. I am so desperate for direction in my life, I am willing to shuffle a deck of cards and seriously consider its advice. So that is what I have done with this show. Shuffled a deck of cards and seeing what it's got to tell me.
