Growing up between the USA and Mexico, my identity has always existed in the in-between—a place where cultures blend but don't always harmonize. Raised in a predominantly white neighborhood in California, I found myself navigating two worlds: one filled with the traditions, colors, and warmth of my Mexican heritage, and the other marked by moments of exclusion, misunderstanding, and discrimination.

Through my photography, I capture the tension of this duality, the pride of celebrating Día de los Muertos, speaking Spanish at home, and embracing my roots, while also feeling the weight of being different. I've experienced the subtle and not-so-subtle ways my identity is judged, whether it's the way I look, the music I listen to, or simply the way I exist in certain spaces. At times, I feel like I can't fully be myself, as if parts of me need to be hidden to be accepted. My work explores both the beauty and the struggle of being Mexican in a place that doesn't always make space for it.

My images reflect the landscapes of my upbringing, the contrast between the colorful streets of Mexico, rich with history and tradition, and the quiet, uniform suburbs of California, where I often felt like an outsider. This project is both a personal reflection and a testament to my family's journey, challenging the idea that one must conform to belong.
