Artist's Statement

THE BLUEPRINT is a visual reflection of the past 5-8 years of my life spent in the vibrant cities of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Jose. These three cities have played a significant role in making me the person I am today and I am very thankful for those experiences. Being raised in Los Angeles allowed me to be comfortable when moving to these cities and to navigate them rather easily. Through the medium of cyanotype, I hope to explore the intersections between these places, memories, and identity, capturing the essence of these urban landscapes and their profound influence on my personal growth.

Cyanotype, with its deep, rich blues, serves as a metaphor for the layered complexity of my experiences. These eclectic experiences provided great inspiration for my art practice and I decided that cyanotype would be the best process to display these locations in their rawest form. As the cyanotype process unveils its images through exposure to light, it parallels how spending time in these cities gradually revealed deeper truths about myself.

Each piece in THE BLUEPRINT is a distilled moment, an abstraction of my inner landscape shaped by the cities I have called home. These works are both personal and universal, speaking to the ways in which our environments shape us. The transient nature of time and the search for permanence in an ever-shifting world is something that this process allows me to explore. The cyanotype's timeless nature reflects my desire to capture these fleeting moments, pieces of memory, shadow, and light. These moments that define who we are in the spaces we inhabit.

This gallery is a testament to the experiences we all carry within us, marked by the places we've lived, the paths we've walked, all the while making up the blueprint of our lives.
