Being under pressure is a feeling everyone has gone through. Our perspective when being under pressure won't be the same as others. In fact, they'll have different scenarios, different solutions to the problem. These moments either make us evolve as human beings or leave us the same. In each canvas, there's going to be my scenarios, my problems and my moments of being under pressure. Most of these “problems” I came across are fairly recent with some people having their own vision, story, meaning etc of a Guardian Angel. But the Guardian Angel you see across the exhibition is a representation and perception of myself. A lot of the materials I used were acrylic and charcoal. However, I wanted to mix in different mediums so I added a ceramic piece which started this whole premise of a Guardian Angel. The ceramic piece I built during a time when I was fully recovering from anxiety from the previous semester. I was mentally better so got the idea from the recovery of having a Guardian Angel. The acrylic is the main medium I used with a lot of my art works. I tend to work fast so oils for me aren't the best. Although with charcoal, I recently have found my love for it again. I hated working with charcoal in the beginning but as soon as I picked it back up in college I found the love for it again. Expressing the emotion of being Under Pressure could have been difficult for me but because it's an emotion I've been through a lot during my lifetime in college, it was easier for me to express it. Under Pressure is even tatted on me to always remind myself to be calm during a situation of being Under Pressure. All of my art pieces tell a story. Not a story you'll figure out soon but a story you can create while viewing the art pieces. I simply don't want the answer in front of you, I want the viewer to create their own answer. Every single piece shows a story like a relationship, friendship, during a moment of my life, etc. These times are all sentimental for me and show a piece of vulnerability in my life. When putting my life to these pieces, it was a lot easier to paint my emotions than telling them. The process of me creating art work starts with my sketch book and then putting those fast sketches to a canvas. Most of the time, It'll look completely different to the quick sketch. I change the painting or change the charcoal piece while making it. It gives me a lot more freedom with my art and showcases my emotions in a way I never thought I could express. The titles of the artwork describe the meaning of the art. It's to help the viewer get the story a bit easier but not telling them all of it.
