Artist's Statement

Have you ever been the expectation? What is the American Dream? A perfect life, family, and background are what I was influenced by when it came to this country. As an immigrant, you thought there was such a thing as the American dream, and when you realize how it was never fully reachable to begin with. You sacrificed so much to be here, and realizing it was all a facade makes you rethink your whole outlook towards the world. A woman unborn encapsulates my life currently. It is the unraveling of oneself and how you realize that the expectations that were forced upon you, including your doubts about yourself, were never fully attainable. By being raised on traditional values and merging them with my modern perspective. I wanted to showcase my array of emotions from transitioning into adulthood and how moments in my life have altered my perspective. I can break away from tradition when it comes to the concept of my values and my morals.
