Artist's Statement
I was always inspired by natural views. The natural elements, such as lines, colors, textures, and multiple shapes, are fantastic. A landscape or a nature plant can be divided into countless elements, and the beauty produced by the interaction of these elements is brief and grand. My projects are trying to capture a moment of natural beauty. In the moment, we can appreciate the tranquility in the interweaving of lines, colors, and textures, which is a kind of unpredicable beauty, a kind of dynamic beauty in the static. I work on wood and metal to create the sculpture, not only for ornamental purposes but also for practical purposes. I use these materials because I like the contrast in hardness between them, which can create a natural feeling. In a unique visual aesthetic, the work reflects the results of the communication between artist and material. Without knowing how to construct all the material, I decide to create the work that represents the moment that inspired me. So I follow the design principles, which are repeat balance and irregular. The more I work on the material by exploring the texture, color, and shape, the more experiences I am gaining, which is creating the beauty of nature. During the whole process, I start to build my style and enhance my capabilities to figure out issues such as how to integrate the artwork with the environment. In the final stage, I realize that static things can be vivid and full of the beauty of motion. The work does not only extend in space to different angles but also connects all the feelings with us from all directions; it is the link between the viewer and nature.
