Artist's Statement
When we go places, we tend to focus solely on ourselves. We go from one destination to another without looking around and seeing everyone else. What are their plans for the day? Why are they here? Where else are they planning to go? We all live in this little bubble. When you stop and take a look around, you get a chance to take in these moments alongside someone else's. We're all living in our own world.
This project contains 10 images taken on Kodak gold 200 ISO color film. All of these prints are displayed as metal prints that were captured on my Nikon 35mm film camera. In these images, I really wanted to capture the moment in time and the different interactions between people. I definitely want to keep this a continued series that I am able to add on to. This was my take on street photography with the focus on strangers that pass me. I wanted to capture how I notice things that others may not. Seeing the world in a different way, but still being able to find the beauty in the mundane. I know taking pictures of people can be intimidating at times, but for me, I was intrigued with the people I noticed and I didn't feel as if I was in somebody's space. I've always loved street photography, but now I would say I have more of a drive for it.
